Storming the National Archives!

"I'd like to see your UFO archives, please." "Security? There's a lunatic at reception...."

Okay, it didn't really go down like that, honest. The staff have no idea who's looking at what. Files are put into anonymised "lockers", which link up with your assigned and numbered work desk. Woe betide anyone who has more than three loose files or one box file on their desk at any one time... that wasn't me, no sirree! I wasn't asked to return seven files to my locker as I had far too many on my desk at once....

Three of us from UAP Media UK made the short trip by Tube and London Overground from our digs in Fulham across to Kew Gardens on 29th October 2021 to look through The National Archives' collection. We'd pre-arranged to see a whole load of stuff, Vinnie searching for UFO policy documents, Dave looking at records pertaining to Wales and I was hell-bent on tracking down some elusive links to Foo Fighter type sightings from the early part of WW2. We spent between three and four hours there, with a break in the excellent ground floor café halfway through. Staring at page after page for hours is tiring work. Thankfully with a mobile phone, you can simply take a picture of each one and then peruse them at your leisure, in the comfort of your own home. Downloading 400+ images onto my PC and then backing them up on the Cloud Drive took a while though.

There's something to be said for looking through original documents. Far better than seeing PDF files on a screen.

There was time to pop into the Fulham pub we'd sort of adopted, for a late afternoon meal with the entire UAP Media UK gang (again, apart from Adam), although London prices were somewhat eye-watering and the beer, well, less said about that the better. Or it could just have been my dodgy choices, but then again, I've always said I'm a poor excuse for a Geordie in terms of personal beer consumption. Our Friday night in London was destined to be spent in the company of Ryan Sprague, host of the wonderful "Somewhere in the Skies" podcast. He was staying in town, having just got engaged to his girlfriend the day before. And here we were, a bunch of itinerant Brits about to steal him away for an evening... sorry, Jane, we promise to bring him back in one piece!
