RAF MORPETH:
A FORGOTTEN AIRFIELD IN NORTHUMBERLAND
The story of an airfield in England's most northerly county, one where thousands of air gunners were trained for RAF Bomber Command between 1942 and 1944. Post-war, it was used as a Home Office storage site, alleged "special weapons" convoy stop, a go-kart track and a playground for local motorcyclists.
It is full of detail regarding the construction of the airfield, the gunnery training courses, the crashes involving aircraft that were based there, and a look at its interesting post-war history.
